Inauguration of the Brasseler Academy in Lemgo: Promoting talent. Shaping the future.

Lemgo, 16 May, 2025

The family-owned company Brasseler has completed and officially opened its new training center at the company headquarters in Lemgo according to plan. The “Brasseler Academy” provides a modern learning environment geared towards contemporary, practical training. The center’s guiding principle “Promoting talent. Shaping the future.” illustrates Brasseler’s commitment to opening up prospects for young people and sustainably strengthening the further development of the company and the region.

Training as a foundation for the future

Brasseler has been training young people since 1944 and is consistently pursuing its chosen path with the opening of the Brasseler Academy.

“Training is part of our DNA. If you want to remain successful in the long term, you have to invest in people. With its modern equipment, contemporary pedagogy and an open attitude towards new approaches, the Brasseler Academy is the ideal venue for this,” says Stephan Köhler, chairman of the Brasseler Management Board.

New learning spaces for the specialists of tomorrow

Brasseler’s previous training center has moved to a completely modernized building with an overall floor space of 800 square meters. The result: modern workshops, open project areas and training rooms that can be used flexibly. The rooms are shared by around 50 trainees and apprentices from administrative, commercial and technical departments throughout their traineeship, as well as students on work/study programs. The new learning environment is complemented by advanced technologies, including a specially equipped control technology room that specifically promotes training in the field of automation.

At the same time, the Brasseler Academy is intentionally designed as a training center for employees. In future, the multifunctional rooms will also be used for internal training courses – with the aim of promoting the further education of employees and opening up new prospects for career changers. Additional space has also been planned for future needs in order to be able to react flexibly to new requirements.

“With the Brasseler Academy, we are securing our long-term supply of skilled workers through qualified training and targeted further education. In this way, we promote young talent as well as the development of our employees and strengthen the Lippe region as an attractive location for career prospects“, emphasizes Björn Hartmann, Head of Human Resources at Brasseler.

Young talents take on responsibility

The trainees were actively involved when the Brasseler Academy was still in the planning phase. For example, they suggested around 100 possible names for the new training center. An internal jury evaluated the submissions anonymously and picked the name “Brasseler Akademie”, suggested by Efe Birincioglu, a first-year cutting machine operator apprentice.

The trainees were also heavily involved in the opening of the training center. They presented a specially produced video about their view of the Brasseler Academy, took part in discussions and showed the guests around the new premises.

“We support our trainees right from the start so that they can take on responsibility at an early stage. They not only actively shape their own development, but also the future of our company – in line with the Brasseler Academy’s guiding principle: ‘Promoting talent. Shaping the future’,” explains Christopher Busse, Head of Technical Training at Brasseler.

Engaging in dialog with education and industry: training requires joint commitment

At the opening of the Brasseler Academy, trainees, representatives from Brasseler and experts from education and the local industry discussed current training-related developments and requirements. Topics included the expectations young people have of their vocational training, the role of companies as learning sites and the prospects provided by work/study programs. The focus was also on teaching new skills in an increasingly digital world of work and the demands placed on modern learning environments.

The discussions clearly showed that in this day and age, successful vocational training can only be achieved through joint commitment. Schools, universities and companies must support young people in a practice-oriented, flexible and open manner in order to prepare them in the best possible way for the demands of a changing world of work.
